A couple of ago, it was tough to brush off the buzz online about Twitter marketing tools. It was considered that you could use Twitter as an effective means to build a list of prospective purchasers for your products or services. But the question is, were any of those programs that were promoted, actually doing you any good? Precisely how great is Twitter marketing? This article will examine the case for becoming involved and to find if it will actually repay your time and effort.
Anxious to increase my product sales, I went ahead and started Twitter marketing to build a huge list of followers hoping to turn them into buyers. Not only did I pay to join programs that would get me followers but I invested in a number of softwares to help promote the products I was selling. Overall, I ended up buying about eight different programs that would aid me with all of this.
One of these programs was an automatic 'people follower' on Twitter with the intention that some of those people would follow me back. If someone was not following me, I had another program that would automatically delete them from my to-follow list. Removing non-followers meant I could concentrate on individuals who might be persuaded to follow me. Amongst other Twitter marketing tools I bought, there was one program which automatically tweeted a Multi Level Marketing blog post just as soon as it was posted to my blog.
I must say that the combined effect of using all these programs together gave excellent results since each program did as advertised. Nevertheless, my happiness was quickly squashed when I realized that I wasn't generating any money. I would post to my blog 10 times each day and those blog posts would be shown directly on Twitter just like they should. Believing that more posts would increase my blog traffic, I arranged for my daily blog posts to be made automatically both to my blog and to Twitter as well.
Okay, permit me to reveal to you my results. In three years, I was able to have a Twitter following of roughly ten thousand people. And while you may think that is fantastic, wait 'til you hear the whole story. In the same 3 year period, my Twitter account collected more than 15,000 blog posts that had links to my affiliate promotions.
My blog posts showing on Twitter was the only kind of advertising for that blog I did and to test the effectiveness of Twitter I did not even ping new posts as they were published. Well, you can't say that 3 years isn't long enough to get good results but using Twitter I only got 2 - 4 visitors each day to my blog. My affiliate earnings from 2 sales was $47 and to that you can add $8.65 Adsense revenue - very dismal all around!
Basically, having almost 10,000 followers on Twitter using all these programs will not give you the results you desire. At the end of the day I'm now out of pocket for the Twitter programs I bought because my dollar return was so small. So from my perspective, although there may be good ways to promote on Twitter, using the automatic softwares are not the way to go.
